Missouri NEA . . TROY NEA. . . Something Better
for Children and Public Education
Members and History
Missouri was one of the founding states of the NEA. The NEA has been representing educators in Missouri for over 150 years. In Missouri we have 35,000 members; nationally there are 3.2 million NEA members. 1 out of every 100 Americans is a member of the NEA.
Bargaining and Representation
MNEA is and has always been an advocate of collective bargaining and has a long history of negotations expertise. In fact, MNEA led the fight that led to the Missouri Supreme Court decision restoring bargaining rights to public employees. Missouri top teacher salaries are in school districts where members are represented by MNEA. We are proud to have bargained master agreements for teachers and nurses in Wentzville; teachers, paras, nurses and parent educators in Ft. Zumwalt; as well as bargained agreements in Francis Howell, St. Charles, and other districts like Rockwood, Parkway, Hazelwood and Special School District to name a few.
Legal Services
MNEA provides $2 million liability protection for members, as well as 20 full time trained professionals available 12 months a year to assist members and local associations with a variety of issues. The nearest office is conveniently located in O’Fallon, just off of I-70 and Lake St Louis Blvd. Our state MNEA legal service funding is matched by funding from the NEA, to provide for the best coverage for our members.
At the Capitol
MNEA and NEA lobbyists represent member issues daily at the state’s and nation’s capitol. Thanks to NEA’s efforts, Congress just passed a Teacher Jobs Bill that is estimated to bring approximately $189 million in funding to Missouri.
Professional Resources
We offer Beginning Teacher Assistance Programs, No More Bullying Program Development and Implementation training, Praxis II Prep Seminars, Online Learning through Visiting Scholars Series, NEA Works4Me, and NEA Academy. We can also custom tailor workshops for your local or district on a variety of topics.
Big Savings
MNEA members have access to over 240,000 discounts ranging from hotels at half price to savings on dining, recreation, shopping, travel, cell phones and insurance. With 3.2 million members, the NEA has buying power and is able to offer members financial savings that can’t be matched.
Locally
Most important, is what a concerned group of educators can accomplish at the local level. MNEA is here to work with Troy NEA as it continues to grow. We started with a handful of members a few years ago to over 50 members, and we continue to grow. Troy NEA believes we should have a bargained agreement that covers our salaries, rights and working conditions.
